PREPOSICIÓN DE ORIGEN, ADJETIVOS DE ORIGEN / PREPOSITIONS AND ADJECTIVES OF ORIGIN
To indicate where we are from, we use the preposition de: ser de.
- Soy de Italia.
- Ana es de Francia.
You can also indicate your origins, where you were born, with adjectives.
- Soy de Italia = Soy italiano o italiana.
- Soy de Francia = Soy francés o francesa.
The form of adjectives indicating origins in Spanish is quite varied. These are some of the most usual forms:
- España: español, española
- Francia: francés, francesa
- Alemania: alemán, alemana
- Italia: italiano, italiana
- México: mexicano, mexicana
- Rusia: ruso, rusa
- Japón: japonés, japonesa
- China: chino, china
- Estados Unidos: estadounidense, estadounidense
- Corea: coreano, coreana
- Polonia: polaco, polaca
- Argentina: argentino, argentina
- Inglaterra: inglés, inglesa
VERBOS / VERBS HABLAR Y ENTENDER

We use the verbs hablar and entender when we communicate with others. Hablar indicates that we’re using words to communicate, while entender indicates we understand the words and expressions of others:
